Perfect for all experience levels and families with kids, this adventure will let you experience all Kane’ohe Bay has to offer in a safe and fun-filled group environment, led by our lifeguard certified staff.
We will provide waterproof dry bags and a safe place to leave your valuables when you check in at He’eia State Park. After your educational and safety briefing, you’ll receive paddling instruction from our instructors on He’eia State Park’s beautiful waterfront (filming location of Jurassic World!). You’ll then get in your kayaks and be escorted out onto the Bay by our safety boat. About half way out to the hidden oasis that is Horseshoe Reef, you’ll unhook from the safety boat and paddle the rest of the way to the reef.
Along the way, explore Kane’ohe Bay’s protected waters in search of sea turtles, rays, and tropical fish in their natural habitat. While on the water, you’ll learn more about the bay’s history, the different types of reef and marine life you might see, and also some of the challenges facing our marine ecosystems. Once grouped up at Horseshoe Reef, enjoy snacks, refreshments and about 45 minutes of snorkeling above the healthiest, most pristine coral reef on Oahu. By the time you land your kayak back at He’eia State Park’s waterfront, you’ll be more than ready for the delicious BBQ lunch that will be waiting for you!
Ages 5 and up.
This awesome kayak and snorkel eco-adventure, like all of our activities at He’eia State Park, is a non-profit program of Kama’aina Kids, a local non-profit youth enrichment organization that manages and funds the State Park. The proceeds from this incredible kayaking and snorkeling experience directly fund He’eia State Park!
